Since We Last Spoke...

Well, not really "spoke" but I guess since we last "posted"...
We were so excited to get the new carpet on Thursday and after that was a whirlwind...
Friday-made cupcakes for niece Chaney's birthday (sky blue with sprinkles was requested); Jake had Emma L. over to play; made Jake's hair into a mohawk (see picture); Block Party...SO much fun! (can I tell you how much fun our neighborhood is?...we are having a blast getting to know our neighbors better)
Saturday-Will had a baseball game (which our new neighbor Emma R. came to watch...she is in LOVE with Will...and she is 4); Jake had a soccer game (he scored a goal...he's so cute!); iced a cake for the Nagel family; took the kids to Toby & Michele's house to spend the night (they couldn't wait to get to Ty's house...they asked every 5 minutes from the time they woke up how much longer it was going to be until they saw him); went to Ft. Worth for the Art Festival (which was WAY too crowded and not that great of art...we were disappointed); ate at Pappasito's (can you say "yummy"?) until we were ill (we even got dessert...we splurged because we figured we saved $600 on not buying any art...like the logic?)...we were on a date...
Sunday-drove to Waco (with the boys) to go to John Mark & Laura's church; watched JM in the mountain bike race at Cameron Park; Will had a baseball game at 7pm
(yes...Eli was at the kennel from Saturday morning until Sunday night...we needed a break)
Monday-went to the grocery store (forgot my list but remembered EVERYTHING...which was a first); planned out our dinner meals for the week with the help of Weight Watcher cookbook; had new neighbor Stacie (who is one of the 5 people who read my blog...thank you, Stacie) over with her 2 peanuts; other neighbor Jen and her peanut came over, too!!!; boys played in the mud (yes, my boys are ALL boy); went to a meeting last night for the Worship team at church where we discussed The Trinity...oh, my gosh...my head hurt! Theology and me don't get along...but I'm trying!
Today-Signed up my first Coach for Million Dollar Body; took the boys to the dentist; survived the crazy rain; and posted this blog
If you are not already asleep, thank you for keeping up with me...had a lot to unload...
I'm off to watch American Idol with my boys. Go Chris Richardson (no, he is not related to us)!!!

I'm a slacker...

I am so very sorry I dropped the ball on the "Praying for Your Husband" Month...I think the typing it out got a little tedious (and a hundred other excuses...I am WAY too busy!). So, I am going to list out from Day 19 on...what to pray for...
Here we go:
19. His Past (See 2 Corinthians 2:17)
20. His Attitude (See Philipians 4:6-7)
21. His Marriage (See Ecclesiastes 4:9-10)
22. His Emotions (See Psalm 40:1-3)
23. His Walk (See Psalm 15:1-2)
24. His Talk (See Ephesians 4:29)
25. His Repentance (See Psalm 139:23-24)
26. His Deliverance (See Psalm 18:2-3)
27. His Obedience (See Proverbs 3:1-3)
28. His Self-Image (See 2 Corinthians 3:18)
29. His Faith (See James 1:6-8)
30. His Future (See Jeremiah 29:11)

If you don't have the book to further expand on what the verses say...just pray the verses...that is just as good. Pray them over and over if you would like...but just KEEP praying!!!

Latin Fusion

I'm not sure if that is the term but it is the best word to describe our house. When we went to Lima in September, we loved the colors of all the buildings. Little did we know...our house would take the same colors on! We've now painted the WHOLE downstairs (except for my bathroom). Looking at the pictures posted in July made me want to do an update.
For those of you who haven't been to my house...let me just say be thankful. The carpet (which was WHITE) had turned a gray color. Paint on the stairs had developed into a whole staircase full of stains. Today, we finally got new carpet (on the stairs and downstairs). We are so grateful (and so are all who frequent our home). Enjoy the updated pics...

Finally....

For some background...please see this.

The Countdown Begins...

Only 19 days until we go to Disney World!!! I can't believe we are actually going...I still think it is a dream (I tear up every time I watch the Vacation Planning Video...am I sad or what?). I bought a new bathing suit today and some capris. I went to the Disney store last week to buy a few goodies for the kids (b/c it is cheaper here than there) but really couldn't find anything. We're not big Disney-clothes-wearers...but might be if they sold them at one of the Gap stores!

His Relationships & His Fatherhood

(from Stormie O'Martian's Power of a Praying Wife)
Day 17
His Relationships
"Lord, I pray for (husband's name) to have good, godly male friends with whom he can openly share his heart. May they be trustworthy men of wisdom who will speak truth into his life and not just say what he wants to hear (Proverbs 28:23).
Give him the discernment to separate himself from anyone who will not be a good influence (1 Corinthians 5:13).
Show him the importance of godly friendships and help me encourage him to sustain them.
I pray for strong, peaceful relationships with each of his family members, neighbors, acquaintances, and coworkers. Today I specifically pray for his relationship with (name of person).
Let there be reconciliation and peace where there has been estrangement.
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another. John 13:34-35"

Day 18
"Lord teach (husband's name) to be a good father. Where it was not modeled to him according to Your ways, heal those areas and help him to forgive his dad.
Give him revelation of You and hunger in his heart to really know You as his heavenly Father. Draw him close to spend time in Your presence so he can become more like You and fully understand Your Father's heart of compassion and love toward him.
Grow that same heart in him for his children. Help him to balance mercy, judgment, and instruction the way You do. Though You require obedience, You are quick to acknowledge a repentant heart. Make him that way, too.
Whom the Lord loves He corrects, just as a father the son in whom he delights. Proverbs 3:12"

Easter/Jake's Birthday Pics

Sorry these are late! I guess I've been busy and forgot to post about the resurrection celebration/Jake's birthday...
Jake woke up and found the giant "golden" (as he says) number 5 balloon (see previous post for pictures). He then asked where the pinata was (Eli had eaten it a week prior and we didn't replace it)...poor Jake! Jake loves pinatas!

Easter with boys (& attending the Village Church) looks a lot different than others' Easter Sundays. We went to church Saturday night. My children were dirty (from icing the petit fours) and had on winter clothes...it was COLD here on Easter...no sundress was worn by me! We went to dinner that night at Village Grill (surprised?) with Jeffrey's parents (who had gone to church with us and loved it!).
As we ate breakfast at McDonald's on Sunday (Jake's pick...he wanted the new chicken biscuits they have...which he was sadly disappointed because they were not NEAR as good as Chick-fil-a's), I realized that most people buy a Easter outfit and most men wear suits on Easter. Hmmm...very odd...well, I guess I'm the odd one.
We spent the morning together and then I finished icing his birthday cake. Around noon we headed over to Jeffrey's parent's house. All the cousins were there (in their Easter outfits...well, at least the girls). We ate lunch together and then had not one..but 2 egg hunts. We ate cake (and the petit fours Will made for his cousins) until we were sick (btw...my kids DO NOT like my cakes, although everyone else in the world LOVES them).
It was a great day!!! We're hoping to have a birthday cousin sleepover soon...it may end up being this summer at this rate. Our lives are TOO busy!!

Million Dollar Divas

Well, we're not really Divas but it sounded cute! This is a picture from last Tuesday (not sure why I decided to wear my collar up...I guess I was trying to be hip...Oh, I'm so not hip!). Melissa (my friend who got me into Million Dollar Body) was in town from Iowa to visit her parents (who have an apartment here in the Winter). They asked me to join them for lunch at the "club" (Gleneagles Country Club). What a treat! Yummy food and hanging out with one of my best friends.
It had been a year since we had seen each other. You know those kinds of friends where you pick up right where you left off...that is the kind of friend Melissa is. It was like not a day had passed. I was really sad as I drove away from her that day. She's going to be back at the end of May/beginning of June...thank goodness! I keep hoping and praying that they move back...there are several houses for sale right by me!!! I'm trying not to get my hopes up but I think I already have...ugh!

His Integrity & His Reputation & His Priorities

(from Stormie O'Martian's Power of a Praying Wife)
Day 14
His Integrity
"Lord, I pray that you will make my husband a man of integrity, according to Your standards.
Give him strength to say "Yes" when he should say "Yes" and he courage to say "No" when he should say "No". Enable him to stand for what he knows is right and not waver under pressure from eh world.
Don't let him be a man who is 'always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth' (2 Timothy 3:7).
Give him, instead, a teachable spirit that is willing to listen to the voice of wisdom and grow in Your ways.
The integrity of the upright will guide them, but the perversity of the unfaithful will destroy them. Proverbs 11:3"

Day 15
"Lord, I pray that (husband's name) will have a reputation that is untarnished. I know a man is often valued 'by what others say of him' (Proverbs 27:21), so I pray that he will be respected in our town adn people will speak highly of him.
You've said in Your Word that 'a curse without cause shall not alight' (Proverbs 26:2)
I pray that there would never be any reason for bad things to be said of him. Keep him out of legal entanglements. Protect us from lawsuits and criminal proceedings. Deliver him from his enemies, O God. Defend him from those who rise up to do him harm (Psalm 59:1).
In You, O Lord, we put our trust. Let us never be put to shame (Psalm 71:1)
Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked, from the rebellion of the workers of iniquity, who sharpen their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows--bitter words. Psalm 64:2-3"

Day 16
His Priorities
"Lord, I pray for my husband's priorities to be in perfect order. Be Lord and Ruler over his heart. Help him to choose a simplicity of life that will allow him to have time alone with You, Lord, a place to be quiet in Your presence every day. Speak to him about making Your Word, prayer, and praise a priority. Enable him to place me and our children in greater prominence in his heart than career, friends, and activities.
I pray he will seek You first and submit his all to You, for when he does I know the other pieces of his life will fit together perfectly.
Help me to properly put m husband before children, work, family, friends, activities, and interests (ouch...this one is a tough one...emphasis mine). Show me what I can do right now to demonstrate to him that he has this position in my heart.
Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Matthew 6:33"

His Health & His Protection & His Trials

Here is for yesterday, today, and tomorrow...
Hope you are still praying!!

Day 11
His Health
(from Stormie O'Martian's Power of a Praying Wife)
"Lord, I pray for Your healing touch on (husband's name). Make every part of his body function the way You designed it to.
Wherever there is anything out of balance, set it in perfect working order. Heal him of any disease, illness, or injury, infirmity, or weakness.
Strengthen his body to successfully endure his workload, and when he sleeps may he wake up completely rested, rejuvenated, and refreshed.
I pray that he will have the desire to take care of his body, to eat the kind of food hat brings health, to get regular exercise, and avoid anything that would be harmful to him. Help him to understand that his body is Your temple and he should care for it as such (1 Cor. 3:16).
I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will heal you. 2 Kings 20:5"

Day 12
His Protection
(From Stormie O'Martian's Power of a Praying Wife)
"Lord, I pray that You would protect (husband's name) from any accidents, diseases, dangers, and influences. Keep him safe, especially in cars and planes. Hide him from violence and the plans of evil people. Wherever he walks, secure his steps. keep him on Your path so that his feet don't slip (Psalms 17:5)
If his foot does slip, hold him up by Your mercy (Psalm 94:18). Give him the wisdom and discretion that will help him walk safely and not fall into danger (Proverbs 3:21-23).
Save him from any plans of the enemy that seek to destroy his life (Psalm 103:4). Preserve his going out and his coming in from this time forth and even forevermore (Psalm 121:8).
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, 'He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust.' Psalm 91:1-2"

Day 13
(From Stormie O'Martian's Power of a Praying Wife)
"Lord, You alone know he depth of the burden my husband carries. I may understand the specifics, but You have measured he weight of it on his shoulders.
I've not come to minimize what You are doing in his life, for I know You work great things in the midst of trials. Nor am I trying to protect him from what he must face.
I only want to support him so that he will get through this battle as the winner. Help him to remember that 'the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand' (Ps. 37:23-24)
You have been grieved by various trials, that genuineness of your faith, being much ore precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 1:6-7"

His Choices

...this is a good one...especially for my son!!...Oh, and for ME...and for EVERYBODY...

Day 10 of Praying for your husband Month
(from Stormie O'Martian's Power of a Praying Wife)

"Lord, fill my husband with the fear of the Lord and give him wisdom for every decision he makes. May he reverence You and Your ways and seek to know Your truth. Give him discernment to make decisions based on Your revelation. Help him make godly choices and keep him from doing anything foolish.
I pray that he will listen to godly counselors and not be a man who is unteachable. Instruct him even as he is sleeping (Psalm 16:7), and in the morning, I pray he will do what's right rather than follow the leading of his own flesh. May he not buy into the foolishness of this world, but keep his eyes on You and have ears to hear Your voice.
A wise man will hear and increase learning, and a man of understanding will attain wise counsel. Proverbs 1:5"

Children are NOT puppets

You know how before you have children, you have all of these preconceived notions of how children should act and look. It's like this...you see a child with stuff all over his face and clothes while thinking to yourself..."Can't that mom clean up that baby? How embarrassing for her!"...then it happens...you have boys!!! They come out of the SHOWER dirty, you know what I mean? They are messy.
Then, you see a child throwing a tantrum and you think to yourself, "That mom has no control of her child!"...then you have children of your own. It is then that you watch SuperNanny in pain...because you know how you've had "days" like those moms (probably more days than you care to admit).
I learned very early (when Will was 15 months and going through his terrible 2's), that children are NOT puppets. Oh, I tried!!! I wanted him to act perfect and look perfect. It was a battle that brought me, humbly, to my knees.
I craved parenting advice and tried EVERYTHING. Will didn't mind spanking. He had a "bring it on" kind of attitude toward it. We had to find what his PAIN was...taking away Thomas the Tank Engine toys...much worse torture than a spanking that turned his booty blue.
We "got a hold" of his strong will (we would not have named him Will had we known he'd have such a strong one!) and everything has been better. However, there are times that we are still reminded that he is not (and never will be) a puppet. It is called "free will (not like Will is free...you know what I mean) and we ALL have it. We have a choice on how we act and look. Will has free will to wear his shirt backwards and his clothes not match (well, I could probably get him to change clothes but I figure I better "pick my battles", as my mom would say). Will has free will to say hurtful words (and the consequence of soap in his mouth that will follow). Will has free will to choose if he wants to play soccer well or walk the field (believe me...we've tried EVERYTHING to get him to do what we want on that field...bribery didn't even work!).
Will played amazing tonight at soccer. He has his past two games (but not the prior 10). Will is a great soccer player but he hasn't had the desire to do well. It was his "free will" (and oh, so frustrating!). What changed his attitude the past two games? If I knew, I would try to replicate it...but he isn't a puppet. Again, I remain on my knees as a mother...and as a child of God. So often lately when I get frustrated with my children, I think of how frustrated God must be with me...but he gave ME "free will"...I am not a puppet.

His Purpose

Day 9 of Praying for your Husband Month

...What a funny topic today as I struggle myself (as the devil LOVES to do to stay-at-home moms on a regular basis) with my purpose. Being a MAID, laundry girl, chauffer, cook, these days doesn't quite do it for me so I am weary (mostly from the MAID part...white carpet with boys and a dog..help!...new carpet should be here this week, prayerfully!). I know I am called to a Higher purpose but sometimes the mundane (yes, I AM a brat) gets in the way, you know? So, let's get praying and not let Satan win today...

(from Stormie O'Martian's Power of a Praying Wife)

"Lord, I pray that (husband's name) will clearly hear the call You have on his life. Help him to realize who he is in Christ and give him certainty he was created for high purpose. Enable him to walk worthy of his calling and remind him of what You've called him to be. Don't let him get sidetracked with things that are unessential to Your purpose.
Strike down discouragement so that it will not defeat him. Lift his eyes above the circumstances of the moment so he can see the purpose for which You created him. Give him patience to wait for Your perfect timing.
I pray that the desires of this heart will not conflict with the desires of Yours. May he seek You for direction and hear when You speak to his soul.
The God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory...give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of glory of His inheritance in the saints. Ephesians 1:17-18."

Pray for yourself today the same prayer...we need this as wives, too! Have a blessed day!

Just add "Baseball Mom" to the list...

Yes, I am an official "Baseball Mom" now. I couldn't resist posting this picture today. This was his first game which was last Wednesday. He made a hit to first base. We were so proud!! He REALLY enjoys playing and he's doing great! He had another game on Friday night (which was FREEZING COLD) and the game yesterday was postponed due to SNOW...yes, it was snowing here yesterday!! Isn't that nuts.
Read this blog to find some inspiration from the snow which will bless you!!! What an awesome perspective, Amanda!!

Happy Birthday, Jake!!!

His Fears

Day 8 of "Praying for Your Husband Month"
(from Stormie O'Martian's Power of a Praying Wife)

"I say to you, (husband's name), 'Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God; He will come and save you' (Isaiah 35:4).
'In righteousness you shall be established; you shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear' (Isaiah 54:14)
'You shall not be afraid by the terror by night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday' (Psalm 91:5-6).
May the spirit of the Lord rest upon you, 'the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord' (Isaiah 11:2).
I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. Psalm 34:4"

Tomorrow my "baby" turns 5

Seriously, where has the time gone by? 5 years ago I was eating dinner with my parents, Jeffrey, and Will at Salt Grass Steakhouse (of which I promptly threw up in the middle of the night due to my nervous stomach that I have had since I was in the 2nd grade). I thought to myself..."Why am I having another baby?" That question came up some days when I was sitting on the floor with a big belly, crying while holding the door shut so Will would take a nap as he threw a tantrum on the other side not wanting to nap (he had outsmarted the child safety locks). Most days, that question came up as to HOW I would love another child as much as I loved Will. Then it happened...Jake was born.
When he came out it was like a freakish, deja vu type of thing. "I already did this", I thought to myself. He looked EXACTLY like Will. He was 12 days early and weighed 7 lbs. 13 ounces. The first 3 1/2 months were tough but shortly thereafter, (when I got some sleep) I realized how God could love EACH of his children. My love for Will didn't change as I developed a love for Jake. I love them both...differently & uniquely. Just as God loves me.
Jake is pretty easy going (except when he is hungry...that boy LOVES to eat!). He goes with the flow and adores his brother. He will do whatever his brother tells him. Jake loves to cuddle and with that soft, baby skin...who could resist? He makes us laugh and is tender hearted.
He is, however, ALL BOY. On many occasions I have to get on to him for peeing in the backyard, spitting, and most of all...PICKING HIS NOSE!! We're working on it....
He is ever so handsome and has the most beautiful eyes...which people comment on all the time. But, I know his insides (well, not like God knows them but you know what I mean)...they are much more handsome!!
Happy Birthday, sweet boy. We are BLESSED to have you in our family!!!

His Mind

Day 7 of Praying for Your Husband Month!!
(from Stormie O'Martian's Power of a Praying Wife)

"Lord, I pray for Your protection on my husband's mind. Shield him from the lies of the enemy. Help him to clearly discern between Your voice and any other, and show him how to take every thought captive as You have instructed us to do.
May he thirst for Your Word and hunger for Your truth so that he can recognize wrong thinking. Give him strength to resist lying thoughts. Where the enemy's lies have already invaded his thoughts, cleanse his mind. Lord, You have given me authority "over all the power of the enemy" (Luke 10:19)
By the authority given to me in Jesus Christ, I command any lying spirits away from my husband's mind. I proclaim that You, God, have given (husband's name) a sound mind.
Though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into capitivity to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5"

His Temptations

Day 6:
From Stormie O'Martian's Power of a Praying Wife...

"Lord, I pray that You would strengthen my husband to resist any temptation that comes his way. Deliver him from evils such as adultery, pornography, drugs, alcohol, gambling, and perversion. Remove temptation especially in the area of (name of specific temptation).
Make him strong where he is weak. Help him to rise above anything that seeks to erect a stronghold in his life. Lord, You've said that "whoever has no rule over his own spirit is like a city broken down, without walls' (Proverbs 25:28).
I pray that (husband's name) will not be broken down by the power of evil, but raised up by the power of God. Help him to take charge over his own spirit and have self-control to resist anything and anyone who becomes a temptation.
No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. 1 Corinthians 10:13"

His Affection

(Sorry this is late...my husband is out of town so I don't want him working on his affection while he is gone...hee! hee!)

From The Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie O'Martian

"Lord, I pray for open physical affection between my husband and me. Enable each of us to lay aside self-consciousness or apathy and be effusive in our display of love.
Help us to demonstrate how much we care for and value each other.
Remind us throughout each day to affectionately touch one another in some way.
Help us to not be cold, undemonstrative, uninterested, or remote. Enable us to be warm, tender, compassionate, loving, and adoring. Break through any hardheadedness on our part that refuses to change and grow. If one of us is less affectionate to the other's detriment, bring us into balance.
Change our habits of indifference so that we can become the husband and wife You called us to be.
So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. Ephesians 5:28-29"

Call me "Coach"

Ok...I know it is a major faux pax to post 4 entries in one day but yesterday was just too crazy not to add this side note.
As you know, Jeffrey is out of town until Friday. Last night, Jake had a soccer game. I was the "snack mom" last night. Picture me with a cooler strapped to my side with a Target sack full of goodies...I was quite a sight. Anyway, when we got to the field, there were only 5 players there and no coach (because apparently the parents scared him off...long story). So, I decided I better step up to coach (since none of the other parents stepped up). One of the other moms (who has twin boys on the team) helped and we fumbled through the game. Is it bad when the coach yells, "Shoot it in the basket!". Oops! I quickly corrected myself.
Jake did great. He had to play pretty much the whole game because the twins didn't want to play very much and we were short 1 player. Poor Jake...he was a trooper (especially since he was tired from a full day of school & swimming at our neighbor's house)!
The parents decided to schedule a soccer practice on Thursday night...I guess I better figure out soccer between now and then if I am going to coach. I did play soccer for 1/2 a season when I was in 2nd grade. I quit 1/2 way through because I didn't like sweating...the outfits were OK, though.

Courtesy

I have to brag for a second...
Will won the "Courtesy Award" for his classroom. Each month, they pick a different virtue/value to concentrate on. The teacher picks two children who exude that characteristic. Their picture is placed in the hall on the bulletin board and they receive a free kids meal to Chick fil A. Will's teacher picked him this month's virtue/value...Courtesy. Isn't that great?!
We went out to Baskin Robbins to celebrate on Monday night!!! Nothing like a Clown Cone from BR to make the occasion special!!!

Home Alone...Eli Style

You've seen the movie "Home Alone" and you could never imagine that happening to you. Well, yesterday Eli was "Home Alone".
Eli has been quite the escape artist...always wanting to go across the street to play with Pebbles (our neighbor's dog). Because we forgot to fill the hole where he was escaping this weekend, we had to have Eli on a leash the past few days when he needed to go outside to do his business. After pooping in his cage (sorry to be so graphic) yesterday afternoon (I was gone from 11:15-2:30pm...I guess that was too long for him...or I wasn't patient enough while leash walking him), I bathed Eli (outside while the boys were playing in the sprinklers...yes, we are white trash).
Our neighbors invited the boys to swim in their pool. I dried Eli off and tied him to the door (where he prefers over the cage) because his cage was still dirty (right as I went to clean up the mess, the City came to say they were going to have to turn off the water for 30 minutes to do some work...what? I had a HUGE mess to clean up!...I thought I was going to cry!) and outside in the backyard. I noticed his leash was 1/2 way chewed up but i figured there was no way he could get free from it.
We returned from the swimming pool to find what looked like a scene from the day after a college frat party!! There was stuff all over the floor!
Shampoo bottle chewed up with shampoo ALL OVER the carpet (thank goodness I'm getting new carpet next week), Plastic cups chewed up all over the house (that he had gotten from the pantry), Jake's new Darth Vader pinata chewed to pieces (we had JUST purchased it 2 hours prior for $20), Jake's birthday party supplies strewn all over the study...and on and on. The only thing I was thankful for was he didn't make it upstairs (where the toys are) or to my closet (where the shoes are). HELP ME, Lord!!!
Jeffrey is out of town until Friday night. Eli might have to go "out of town" as well until he gets back!!!

His Sexuality

Day 4 of Praying for Your Husband Month
(from Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie O'Martian)

"Lord, bless my husband's sexuality and make it an area of great fulfillment for him. Restore what needs to be restored, balance what needs to be balanced. Protect us from apathy, disappointment, criticism, busyness, unforgiveness, deadness, or disinterest.
I pray that we make time for one another, communicate our true feelings openly, and remain sensitive to what each other needs. Keep us sexually pure in mind and body, and close the door to anything lustful or illicit that seeks to encroach upon us.
Deliver us from the bondage of past mistakes. Remove completely the effect of any sexual experience - in thought or deed - that has ever happened to us outside our relationship. Purify us by the power of Your Spirit.
Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. 1 Corinthians 6:18-20"

His Finances

Day 3 of Praying for our Husband Month...
(from Stormie O'Martian's Power of a Praying Wife)

Oh, my...this is a tough one for me....MONEY!!!

"Lord, I commit our finances to You. Be in charge of them and use them for Your purposes.
May my husband and I be good stewards of all that You give us and walk in total agreement as to how it is to be disbursed. I pray that we will learn to live free of burdensome debt.
Where we have not been wise, bring restoration and give us guidance. Show me how I can increase our finances and not decrease them unwisely. Help us to remember that all we have belongs to You and to be grateful for it.
Do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you. Luke 12:29-31"

April..."Pray for your husband Month"

(...Ok so it isn't an "official" one but I thought it would be a good idea.)
In February, a friend and I were working out. She was telling me about how her husband didn't fulfill her needs, didn't have a clue, etc. I've had many conversations with women about how men "don't get it". "If he would just do..." or "If he would just say..." are usually part of the conversation. What it boils down to is..."If he was just perfect like me!!!". Well, I know we aren't perfect but sometimes I think we think it is all our spouse's fault. I realized (and continue to realize) I can't change my husband. Although he is NEAR perfect, there are some things I would love to change about him but I CAN NOT change him. I can't even get him to take multivitamins!!!!
So, instead of having a "male bashing conversation" (which is where it was headed), I decided to do something different this time. I said, "Let's commit to pray for our husband EACH DAY whether we feel like it or not." (What? I couldn't believe that came out of my mouth!! It is much easier to just complain!!!) We decided to read Stormie O'Martain's book "Power of a Praying Wife" which has a prayer for each day.
Each day I prayed for my husband (good days and not so good days). Sometimes I didn't feel like it but I prayed anyway. After the month was over, he didn't change, really, but I changed! Things that bugged me before didn't bug me and I had so much more grace when it came to him. Ugh!!! He was supposed to change...not me! However, maybe it wasn't he who was supposed to change...maybe it was me!
In March, the days I prayed for my husband were usually great. I could tell a difference on the days I didn't pray for him.
There are at least 5-10 people that read my blog. I thought I would challenge y'all as well. Pray for your husband this month. I'll post the prayers everyday. Pray for them each day...see what happens....

HIS WIFE
"Lord, teach me how to pray for my husband and make my prayers a true language of love. Where love has died, create new love between us. Show me what unconditional love rally is and how to communicate it in a way he can clearly perceive.
Bring unity between us so that we can be in agreement about everything (Amos 3:3). May the God of patience and comfort grand us to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus (Romans 15:5).
Make us a team, not pursuing separate, competitive, or independent lives, but working together, overlooking each other's faults and weaknesses for the greater good of the marriage. Help us to pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another (Romans 14:19).
Let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
Galatians 6:9

HIS WORK
"Lord, I pray that You would bless the work of my husband's hands. May his labor bring not only favor, success, and prosperity, but great fulfillment as well. If the work he is doing is not in line with Your perfect will for his life, reveal it to him. Show him what he should do differently and guide him down the right path.
Give him strength, faith, and a vision for the future so he can rise above any propensity for laziness. May he never run from work out of fear, selfishness, or a desire to avoid responsibility.
On the other hand, help him to see that he doesn't have to work himself to death for man's approval. Give him the ability to enjoy his success without striving for more. Help him to excel, but free him from the pressure to do so."
Do you see a man who excels in his work?He will stand before kings; he will not stand before unknown men.
Proverbs 22:29
